Amy Schumer was born on June 1, 1981, in Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA as Amy Beth Schumer. Her mother’s name is Sandra Jane and her father’s name is Gordon David Schumer. His father owned a baby-furniture company. 

She has a younger sister named Kim Caramele, now a comedy writer and a producer. She has a half-brother too, named Jason Stein, who is now a musician. 

Her father’s furniture business boomed. But after some years, the business failed and the family went bankrupt. The unfortunate events added when her father was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Eventually, her parents divorced.

She was raised by her mother on Long Island where she attended South Side High School, graduating in 1999. She then moved to Baltimore, Maryland, attended Towson University, and graduated from the same in 2003 with a degree in theater.

Schumer then moved back to New York and studied at William Esper Studio for two years, working as a bartender as well as a waitress.

Her ethnicity is Ukrainian, Polish, English, and German.

Schumer has been in a few high-profile relationships. She had dated comedian Anthony Jeselnik from 2009 to 2011 and wrestler Nick Nemeth, better known by his ring name Dolph Ziggler in 2012.

From 2015 to 2017, she shared girlfriend/ boyfriend status with Ben Hanisch, a Chicago-based furniture designer.

Amy Schumer began a relationship with Chris Fischer, a chef, and author in late 2017. After dating for around three months, the lovebirds got engaged. They tied the knot on February 13, 2018, in Malibu, California.

On October 22, 2018, she announced that she was pregnant and is expecting her first child with her husband Fischer! The couple welcomed their son Gene David Fischer in May 2019.

Amy Schumer – Career

Early Days

Amy Schumer’s first performance was in Keeping Abreast, where she played a young woman diagnosed with breast cancer. On June 1, 2004, she started to perform stand-up comedy, her first performance being at Gotham Comedy Club. Her big break was in NBC’s reality television talent show Last Comic Standing, where she was placed in the fourth position.

Since then, Schumer has starred in shows such as Reality Bites Back (2008), Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld (2007-2012), Inside Amy Schumer, Behind Amy Schumer, The Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen (2011), The Comedy Central Roast of Roseanne Barr (2012).

She has also released comedy albums such as Cutting (2011), Live at the Apollo (2016), and The Leather Special (2017). Her Comedy Central special includes Mostly Sex Stuff (2012), and Amy Schumer: Live at the Apollo (2015) and she started her world tour in August 2016.
