Artem Chigvintsev – Career

Early Days

Chigvintsev inherited his love of dance from his mother. He began taking dance classes at a young age. Growing up, he competed in numerous dance competitions in Russia, and by the time he was 15 years old, he had traveled to Germany, Italy, and England to pursue his career.

Dance competitions

Artem Chigvintsev arrived in Los Angeles in 2004 and began working with champion ballroom dancer Giselle Peacock. He eventually competed in the season of So You Think You Can Dance alongside dancer Melissa Vella. He returned to the show in the second season (2011) as a choreographer.

From 2010 to 2013, Chigvintsev joined season 8 of Strictly Come Dancing. In September 2010, He was partnered with actress  Kara Tointon. The pair went on to win the competition, beating TV presenter Matt Baker and his partner Aliona Vilani,  a Russian-Kazakh professional dancer. Artem Chigvintsev continued to compete in the show until season 11.

The dancer joined Dancing with the Stars (2014) in season 19, pairing with Lea Thompson, finishing in 6th place. He has been a regular competitor on the show, appearing in seasons 20, 22 – 27, 29.
