Who is Chukwudi Iwuji?

Chukwudi Iwuji is an actor by profession and Nigerian, and British by nationality. He is best known for his work in the films John Wick: Chapter 2, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and in the TV series The Split, Designated Survivor, Peacemaker.

Chukwudi Iwuji – Age, Parents, Siblings

Chukwudi Iwuji was born on October 15, 1975, in Nigeria. Both his mother and father were diplomats and his parents raised him alongside his four siblings. One of his brothers is named Odiri Iwuji and one of his sisters is named Nnenna Iwuji.

When he was 10 years old, his parents joined the United Nations and the family moved to Ethiopia. At the age of 12, he was sent to study at a boarding school in England.

Education, Ethnicity

From 1987 to 1993, Chukwudi Iwuji studied at the Caterham School, Surrey where he eventually became a head boy, making him the first black student head boy in the school's history. He later attended Yale University where he graduated with an undergraduate degree in economics in 1997.

In 2000, Iwuji trained at the Professional Theatre Training Program (PTTP) at The University of Milwaukee - Wisconsin, and moved back to the UK.

His ethnicity is Nigerian.

Chukwudi Iwuji married his longtime girlfriend Angela Travino on February 2, 2020. He lives with his actress and singer wife in New York City. Although they do not have any children together- they have adopted a pet dog they had recently fostered. There are no rumors of divorce surrounding the pair.

Theatre

After returning to the UK, Chukwudi Iwuji began his acting career in theatre plays. In 2001, he joined the Royal Shakespeare Company and portrayed numerous characters in the stage production of Julius Caesar (2001), Hamlet (2001), The Merry Wives of Windsor (2002), Coriolanus (2002), This England: The Histories (2006), Antony and Cleopatra (2013), King Lear (2014),

Aside from the Royal Shakespeare Company, Iwuji has worked in other theatre production of Playboy of the Western World, The Misanthrope, The Vote, Welcome to Thebes, Richard III, Tamburlaine, Hedda Gabbler, etc.

Films, Series

Iwuji made his screen debut in 20015 in four episodes of the TV series Proof. This was followed by roles in the films Exam (2009), Barry (2016), John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017), Bikini Moon (2018), Daniel Isn't Real (2019), Shine Your Eyes (2020), The Girl Who Got Away (2021), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3  (2023) as High Evolutionary.

Moreover, he has also portrayed characters in the episodes of the TV series Doctor Who (2011), Crossing Lines (2015), Blindspot (2016), Quantico (2018), The Split (2018-2022), Designated Survivor (2019), The Underground Railroad (2021), Peacemaker (2022), among others.
