Early Days
Having started her career as a model, her first lead role was in Eugenio Hernandez’s theatre production of Maria Antonia. She was 17 at the time. After moving to the USA, Garcia learned English by studying with teachers and dialect coaches, began ballet lessons at Debby Allen Dance Academy, and took acting classes. She eventually began to book commercials and later landed TV roles in the US.
Her debut screen role was in the 2006 film Danika as Myra. This was followed by a guest appearance in an episode of the TV series CSI: Miami in the year 2007. Danay Garcia’s breakthrough came as the main character Sofía Lugo in season 3 of the serial drama Prison Break. She portrayed the character from 2007 to 2009, for a total of 15 episodes.
