Jack Lowden’s birth took place on 2 June 1990 in Chelmsford, Essex, England. Born as Jack Andrew Lowden to father Gordon Lowden and mother Jacquie Lowden, he is not the only child of his parents. His sibling, younger brother Calum Lowden, is now a ballet dancer. Both were conceived through IVF treatment.

For education, Jack Lowden attended Earlston High School, where he was in a school production of  Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story, etc. Following graduation, he went on to study at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, earning a BA in acting in 2001. 

He also studied at the Scottish Youth Theatre when he was 10 years old and at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London during summer school. His ethnicity is Scottish.

Jack Lowden – Girlfriend, Wife, Children, Divorce

Although Jack Lowden is secretive and reluctant to talk about his romantic relationships, it has long been speculated that his girlfriend is actress Saoirse Ronan. They married on July 20, 2024 in Scotland. With his wife, he has a child born in late 2024 or early 2025.

There have been no news of divorce surrounding the pair.

Jack Lowden – Career

Early Days

Lowden and his brother were both trained in ballet from a young age. After Jack Lowden grew up liking acting and theatre, he pursued the same. His first professional work was in a television advertisement for Irn-Bru in 2009. 

In 2010, he was cast as the lead character Cammy in the National Theatre of Scotland's production of Black Watch. As the production toured in London (Barbican), Glasgow, Aberdeen, New York City, Washington, Chicago, Austin, and Chapel Hill, his recognition grew.

Movies, Series, Theatre

Over the years, Jack Lowden has played in the theatre productions of Chariots of Fire (2012), Ghosts (2013-2014), Electra (2014), and Measure for Measure (2018). In TV series, he has had a recurring role in The Tunnel (2013) as Adam Roebuck, The Gold (2023-2025), Slow Horses (2022-2025), and in miniseries The Passing Bells (2014), War & Peace (2016), etc.

In the last decade, Lowden has worked in films as well. He has starred in the films Tommy's Honour (2016), Dunkirk (2017), England Is Mine (2017), Mary Queen of Scots (2018), Fighting with My Family (2019), Capone (2020), Benediction (2021), Tornado (2025), and Ella McCay (2025), to name a few.
