Early Days
Baena moved to Los Angeles to start his professional career soon after graduation. He ended up working on several films as a production assistant for the director and producer Robert Zemeckis. He then went up to work as an assistant editor for writer-director David O. Russell.
A year and a half later, Jeff Baena met with a car accident that left his eyes injured. So as to keep Baena’s spirit up and to pass the time during his recovery, Russell began to discuss film script ideas with him. Among their four completed scripts, the comedy film I Heart Huckabees was released in 2004.
