Early Career
After completing her Bachelor's level Jodie Turner-Smith began to work as a banker in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A mutual friend introduced her to musician Pharrell Williams after a N.E.R.D. concert, who convinced her to move to Los Angeles to become a model.
She then moved to Los Angeles in 2009 where she began to model for numerous brands.
Movies, TV series
Turner-Smith made her debut as an actress in a 2013’s episode of the fantasy horror drama TV series True Blood as Siren #2. Her next role was in two episodes of Mad Dogs (2015-2016) as Angel.
Since then she has had appearances in numerous TV series including Ice (2016), in The Last Ship (2017-2018) as Sgt. Azima Kandie, in Nightflyers (2018) as Melantha Jhirl and in Jett (2019) as Josie.
Jodie Turner-Smith has also portrayed roles in films such as The Neon Demon (2016), Lemon (2017), Queen & Slim (2019) as Angela "Queen" Johnson and in upcoming films Without Remorse (2020) as Karen Greer and in After Yang as Kyra.
