Trott left ballet to pursue a career in acting at the age of 17. Speaking of it in an interview with Patrick Mulkern, she said,
“I realized going full-time into a ballet company wasn’t what I wanted to do. Then almost by chance really, I appeared in a film called Heaven’s Gate with John Hurt and Kris Kristofferson. It was a very glamorous film, like nothing I’ll probably ever do again.
I was Dithering a lot at the time about whether I was going to carry on dancing, and John Hurt talked to me and persuaded me to consider acting instead. So I started to do mote drama classes at the London Studio Centre, taken by Stephanie Beacham, and she also gave me a lot of encouragement.”
The English actress is best known for her portrayal of Lady Marion of Leaford in the series Robin of Sherwood from 1984 to 1986.
Already an actress by the age of 17, Judi Trott portrayed several roles before she landed her breakthrough role. She starred in BBC’s Ragtime, Bright Eyes followed by roles in TakeThree Women for BBC 2 and in ABC’s Charles and Diana: A Royal Love Story (1982).
Others include Present Laughter, Heaven's Gate (1980), Iolanthe (1982), Living Apart Together. She landed her breakthrough role as Lady Marion of Leaford in Robin of Sherwood in 1982.
Since fame, Trott has worked in films such as Reunion at Fairborough (1985), Truckers (1987), Born to Dance (1988), Circles in a Forest (1990), Painted Lady (1997), etc. In theater, she has acted in Mansfield Park, Morte D'Arthur, Cinderella, and The Rivals, to name a few.
In 2016 she reprised her role as Lady Marion in an audio production of Robin of Sherwood.
