LaRoyce Hawkins is an actor, comedian, musician by profession, and American by nationality. He is best known for starring in Chicago P.D., Chicago Fire as Officer Kevin Atwater.

LaRoyce Hawkins was born on May 4, 1988, in Harvey, Illinois, USA. His full name is LaRoyce T. Hawkins, his mother’s name is Leah Bradley and his father’s name is Leonard Hawkins. He was raised by his grandparents in Harvey, Illinois till the age of 12 alongside his two siblings- older brother Shaunn Hawkins and younger brother La'Mar "The SupaStar" Hawkins.

Education, Ethnicity

For education, LaRoyce Hawkins attended Thornton High School. In school, he played basketball but left the team to join the speech team. He accomplished much with the team- won Illinois High School Association's Original Comedy event’s state title in the year 2005, won the state title in Humorous Duet Acting, placed fourth at state that year in Original Comedy and third at the IHSA state competition in Humorous Interpretation.

He also went to Illinois State University on a full-tuition scholastic scholarship and majored in theatre arts there. He graduated in 2012 and was a member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity.

His ethnicity is African-American.

LaRoyce Hawkins – Career

Early Days

While in college, Hawkins was portrayed in numerous college stage plays including August Wilson’s Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. His debut screen role was in an episode of the TV series House of Payne. This was followed by minor roles in the films The Express (2008), Detroit 1-8-7 (2011), Canal Street (2018), etc and TV series Ballers (2015), Boyband (2016), Special Skills (2017), Chicago Justice (2017), among others.

Finally, in 2013 LaRoyce Hawkins was cast as Kevin Atwater in the TV series Chicago Fire. He portrayed the role until 2021 and is considered his breakthrough in Hollywood.

Films, Series

Since then, LaRoyce Hawkins has reprised his role as Officer Kevin Atwater in the TV series Chicago Med (2019-201), Chicago P.D. (2014-2022), and played the character Michael 'Shaw' Owens / Shaw in the TV series South Side. Moreover, he has starred in the films The Killing of Kenneth Chamberlain (2020), Hands Up (2021), North of the 10 (2022), and short films Reflection (2011), Google Me Love  (2013), among others. He also had an appearance in the TV mini-series Underemployed in the year 2012.
