Lee Pace Sexuality, Boyfriend, Husband, Children

In 2012, his co-star of The Hobbit Ian McKellen identified Pace as gay. This sexuality identification by McKellen was believed to be a blunder and an accident due to the fact that Lee Pace had not revealed it.

In a February 2018 interview with W magazine, flustered and surprised Pace revealed that he has dated both men and women. Only later on, in an interview with The New York TimesPace shared that he is in fact gay by sexuality. He also talked about the struggles working as an actor after revealing he was gay,

“Look — yeah. I remember when I signed with a new agent, we worked together for a year. He took me to some coffee shop in the middle of the afternoon and I knew he wanted to talk about something. He said, ‘I heard you’re gay, is that true?’ I said, ‘Is that a problem?’ And of course he said, ‘No, fine, just felt like I needed to know.’ But within about a year, he was no longer working with me.”

Pace is very secretive about his romantic affairs, especially after the criticism he faced after coming out as gay. In the past, he has been rumored to have dated James Calleri, Carter Smith, and Jason Moore (2006) while he was known to date Anna Friel (2006-2007), and Laura Donnelly (2015-2016).

He is currently in a relationship with Matthew Foley. He and his boyfriend began dating in mid-2019 and confirmed their marriage in August 2022. He and his husband don't have children as of yet.
