Ricky Gervais – Age, Parents, Siblings

Ricky Gervais was born Ricky Dene Gervais on 25 June 1961 in Reading, Berkshire, England. His father’s name is Lawrence Raymond Gervais and his mother’s name is Eva Sophia Gervais. Lawrence was of Franco-Ontarian (French-Canadian) descent and Eva was of English descent. They had met at a blackout. 

Gervais's siblings are brothers Larry (born 1945), Robert (born 1950), and sister Marsha (born 1948). He is the youngest of all 4 siblings.

Education, Ethnicity

For education, Gervais attended Whitley Park Infants and Junior Schools and later joined Ashmead Comprehensive School for his secondary education. In 1980, he attended University College London previously intending to study biology. But after 2 weeks, he changed to philosophy.

Ricky Gervais – Girlfriend, Wife, Children

Gervais and Jane Fallon met during his college days at University College London. They began dating in 1982 and have been together ever since. But as of 2023, they are not married.

Taking about his views on marriage, he said, “there's no point in us having an actual ceremony before the eyes of God because there is no God". 

Gervais identifies himself as an atheist and a humanitarian and even had written an editorial for The Wall Street Journal. He is also a strong supporter of animal rights, gay rights, and same-sex marriages.

The couple has never had any children too. Speaking of his desire to not have children, he said, “didn't fancy dedicating 16 years of our lives. And there are too many children, of course".

Early Days

Gervais started his career during his college days. In 1983, he and his college friend Bill Macrae formed Seona Dancing, a pop duo. With the rise in their fame, they were signed by London Records and released two singles through it. In 2013, his live tour took place with the band "Foregone Conclusion". In 2016, he released the David Brent Songbook containing 15 songs. 

During his time at University, he worked as an assistant events manager and later worked at the alternative radio station Xfm. He also has hosted radio shows such as Ricky Gervais Is Deadly Sirius on Sirius XM. Gervais’ podcast includes The Ricky Gervais Show, and The Podfather Trilogy.
