Sarah Cox was born on 13 December 1974 in Bolton, Greater Manchester, England. Her full/ birth name is Sarah Joanne Cox while her nickname is Sara Cox (she dropped the letter h in her name later). Her mother’s name is Jackie Cox and her father's name is Len Cox.

There is no information about her parents except that they divorced when Sara Cox was around the age of 6. She has 4 older siblings, she is the youngest one. Two of her siblings are Yvonne Cox (older sister) and Robert Cox (older brother). After her parents separated, she lived with her mother and a sister in a separate house in the same village.

Talking about her education, Sara Cox attended Smithills High School until she was 16 years old. She then joined Canon Slade School to study A-levels from where she graduated.

Sara Cox was in a relationship with Prodigy singer/dancer Leeroy Thornhill. The couple was even engaged to be married but they broke off their engagement and called off their marriage in June 2000.

She then married DJ Jon Carter on 6th October 2001. Their first daughter Lola Anne Carter was born on June 13, 2004. Sadly, the couple could not sustain their relationship and the two divorced in 2005.

Sara Cox is currently married to boyfriend turned husband Ben Cyzer, an advertising executive. They have 2 children together. Her second child, a son named Isaac Cyzer was born on March 10, 2008. About 2 years later, Cox gave birth to daughter Renee Cyzer on March 12, 2010.

The couple has been together since 2006 and after 7 years of dating, they finally tied the knot on June 22, 2013.

Sara Cox – Career

After graduation from the same, Sara Cox pursued a career in modeling. She did a music video for the 1993 single Everyday by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark and also appeared on the poster of Wipeout (1995), a video game.

In 1996, she was chosen to be a presenter of the show The Girlie Show, marking the beginning of her career as a presenter. Over the years she has (co) presented numerous programs namely,  Born Sloppy, MTV Hot (1997), The Big Breakfast (1998), The Album Chart Show (2007), etc.

Cox joined BBC Radio 1 in 1999 and has hosted shows such as Sunday Surgery, The Radio 1 Breakfast Show, afternoon “drivetime" slot. She joined BBC Radio 2 in June 2011 and hosted Hot Gossip, Sounds of the 80s, The Great Pottery Throw Down, Love in the Countryside (2018), Back in Time for... (2018).

Apart from being a presenter, she is also an actress. The movie in which she has appeared in include The Bitterest Pill.

Sara Cox – Privacy breached!

After her marriage to Jon Carter in 2001, she was pictured sunbathing nude while on her honeymoon by The People, a British newspaper. And the newspaper printed those pictures!

Initially, Cox complained to the Press Complaints Commission. The newspaper did print an apology but she further sued the newspaper for her breach of privacy under the Human Rights Act. 

The case was settled and the newspaper paid Sara Cox and Jon Carter total of £50,000 (Cox received £30,000 and Jon received £20,000). The newspaper also paid for the now ex-couple’s legal costs.
