YouTuber Nikkietutorials found “freedom” after coming out as transgender

Just two days after YouTube star Nikkie de Jager, who uses the stage name  Nikkietutorials came out as transgender, she took to Twitter to thank her fans and supporters for “accepting” her.

She wrote on Twitter to her 1.9 million followers,

“I’ll never be able to put into words what these last few days have been like. thank you for accepting me and teaching me that on the other side of fear lies freedom. I love you so unconditionally, always.”

Following the tweet, she was flooded with replies from celebrities including Ariana Grande, Lena Dunham, Jeffree Star, and Rihanna’s brand Fenty Beauty.

In her 17-minute YouTube video, I’m coming out, which has been viewed 25 million times, in just two days, Nikkie de Jager had begun,

“Today I am here to share something with you that I've always wanted to share with you one day, but under my own circumstances, and it looks like that chance has been taken away from me. So today, I am taking back my own power and I have to tell you something.

When I was younger, I was born in the wrong body, which means that I am transgender It's so surreal saying this. Filming this video is scary, but it feels so liberating and freeing. I've been wanting to share this side of myself to all of you for so long but I could never figure out the timing." 

She further revealed that she was being blackmailed by people who wanted to leak her personal details.
